I said it before, but I think one of the driving points of the game is going to be an AI gone rogue/pursuing it's own agenda, at least in the Creo gamespace and The Surge is just the side effect of it flexing it's muscles. The Surge also affected the various drones and robots at Creo too, making them hostile towards anything not them. They're all brain damaged in some way and all hostile towards anyone not similarly damaged, because they only attack Warren, never each other.
LORDS OF THE FALLEN 2 THE SURGE PLUS
Plus with the whole neural link issues regarding them being used to connect to the exoskeletons, I have a feeling 'The Surge' as in the event the game is named after burned out or heavily damaged/altered everyone or nearly every Creo worker with an exo rig. The suits in the Creo offices would care far less about the mental exhaustion of having to do repetitive heavy industrial labor for however long shifts are.

An exoskeleton technically means physical exhaustion is less of an issue(?) to a corporate mindset anyway.

Think about what that means for downtime. So the workers are not meant to take them off. The trailers show the exoskeleton being put on over Warren's clothes by the automated surgical bay with Warren in pain when the servos are screwing in the bolts and connectors to his shoulders and hips/pelvis. So I'm wondering what the Creo employment contract looks like.
